The highlight for many accuracy-driven competitive shooters is the NRA Action Pistol Championship. The MidwayUSA Bianchi Cup was held May 24 – 28 at the Green Valley Rifle & Pistol Club outside Columbia, Missouri, and Team SIG member Tracie Rushing had a strong performance.
Rushing competed the four stages over three stress-filled days, setting a new national record in the Women’s Metallic Practical event with a 443/21X, and tied the Women’s Metallic Falling Plates record with a 460/46X. She finished 20th overall in the Metallic division and ended up with a new personal best of 1734/90X, an Expert-level score. When shooting Action Pistol, Rushing shoots a SIG SAUER P226 X-Six in 9mm.
“My main goal for this match was to overcome match nerves and I made tremendous progress,” Rushing said. “The Cup is by far the most stressful match I shoot, and it pushes me to grow in many ways as a competitor.”
Among the women in the field, Rushing finished in the Top 3 for the Metallic division and Top 10 overall. “The Metallic women’s talent pool was very deep this year, which made for an exciting match,” said Rushing. “Becky Yackley and Amanda Brown brought their A-game to finish 1st and 2nd.”
SIG SAUER was a Platinum Event sponsor at this year’s Cup – featured at the Moving Target Event – and Rushing earned the second-highest recorded women’s score for the event.
One of Rushing’s favorites is the Falling Plates. “The plates were exciting,” Rushing said. “After missing my 3rd plate – I hit on the left edge, but didn’t fall – my nerves were a bit frayed, but I stayed focused and tied the national record. The second miss was at 25 yards, where I over shot. The last plate was caught by the bar while falling. They released the bar and it fell, so I got the points! This was the most exciting run I’ve ever had on plates.”
