On a pretty frequent basis at shooting ranges around the country, you’ll find benefit match in support of a local charity or to support a family in need. Bill Garland and Tim Herron from Team SIG recently attended matches in Oregon and Missouri.

ABC House, Oregon

ABC House Benefit“The charity benefit match for ABC House here in Oregon was a huge success,” Garland said. “The match was a huge success in terms of money raised, and it was a pleasure to take part in such a worthy cause.” More than 130 shooters participated in the event.

ABC House is a non-profit Child Abuse Intervention Center working with children, youth, and their families to overcome the crisis of abuse and neglect. Established in 1997, ABC House is a Child Abuse Intervention Center offering child abuse assessment, treatment and support services, post-trauma counseling and youth and adult educational programming.

ABC House is the only agency in the Benton and Linn, Oregon area providing forensic evaluations and support services to children whom authorities have received a reported allegation of abuse.

House of Hope, Missouri

Tim Herron shot with his son at the Laffeyette Gun Club in support of House of Hope in Missouri. House of Hope is dedicated to improving the quality of life for families affected by domestic violence and sexual abuse. “Every June, the club puts together a special benefit match with all proceeds going to a great charity or cause,” said Herron. “The competitors were able to raise more than $2,000 this year for House of Hope.”

“This is one of the most fun matches of the season for me,” Herron continued. “It’s run pro-am style with very tight par times for each stage. Targets are scored similar to 3-Gun, but each division is still limited to their respective capacities making it extremely challenging for limited capacity divisions.”

Herron was the Overall Combined Champion at the match this year, shooting in Single Stack with his SIG 1911 Match Elite in 9mm.
