Lane takes 2nd at USPSA Area 8 Championship

This week, Mason Lane followed up his win at the IDPA New England Regional with a 2nd place finish in the Production division at the USPSA Area 8 Championship.

Even with a tropical storm threatening earlier in the week, the weather turned out perfect for more than 470 competitive shooters who headed to the match at Ontelaunee Rod & Gun Club in New Tripoli, Pa. Eight Team SIG members shot the match, all in the Production division with their Grayguns-tuned SIG SAUER P320-F9 handguns. There were more than 100 participants in the Production division.

A welcoming staff with challenging stages made for a great weekend and a raffle prize for every match attendee was a big hit. Match Director Bill Duda put together an excellent team of volunteers – including Team SIG’s Annette Evans as statistician officer – ensuring many already have the 2017 match penciled in on their calendar.

For Lane, this match was his best USPSA Production Area performance so far. “It was a super fun match and after a rocky start,” Lane said. “I pulled it together and crushed the final five stages.” Lane ended up with nine (of 14) top five stage finishes.

“The match was what everyone has come to expect from Ontelaunee Rod & Gun; excellent,” said Lane. “Stages lent competitors numerous legitimate options on strategies, and most were technically challenging and fun.” Next up for Lane is the USPSA Area 4 Championship in Texas and the IPSC Nationals in Florida.

AJ Stuart finished a strong 11th, with Harold Hawkins (19th, 2nd B Class) and Gerry Tetreau (20th) earning top 20 honors in Production. Annette Evans, Clay Klemm, Doug Flavin and Steve McGough also shot the match.
