I’m getting ready to head out to the 2016 IDPA Nationals in Texas this weekend, and after my regular Tuesday night IDPA match in Phoenix on Tuesday, I’ll be dumping out my range bag and packing for the trip. Here are some of the most important items that will be coming with me this week:
My SIG SAUER P320 – I love this gun. It’s done everything I’ve asked of it, and it just keeps running without a single hitch. I shook out the rocks in the magazines and wiped it down, so I should be good to go for the match.
My Blade-Tech Holster and Double Mag pouch and my ESS Crossbow Suppressors – This is my go-to gear, regardless of what type of match I’m shooting. I’ve been using both Blade-Tech and ESS since well before I became a member of Team SIG – I’m a huge fan of both companies and I happily stand behind their products.
My Lucas Oil – Lucas Oil is a must-have in my bag. I don’t clean my gun as often as I should, and an extra squirt or two of Lucas Oil ensures that my P320 will run (and run, and run…)
My 5.11 Strykes and Socks – This is another pair of items I don’t leave home without when I’m going to a major match. I know socks seem like a trivial thing, but try out a pair of these 5.11 Tactical socks during a match, and I guarantee you’ll wonder why you didn’t make the switch earlier. They’re comfy, keep my feet dry and they make a huge difference in how my feet feel at the end of the day.
See you on the range!
Note: I’ll be using my range bag as my carry-on bag. This is a somewhat high-risk option — you may not want to try this at home, kids. I mention it to make sure that anyone new to flying with firearms and gear is aware that a loose round or even a single piece of brass in your carry-on bags can be cause for a major delay (or worse) when trying to get through TSA. I use my range bag for carry-on because my suitcase is going to be dangerously close to 50 lbs without it, and paying overweight luggage fees makes me very crabby (just ask my boyfriend). To make sure I don’t have to spend my quality time with the TSA, I go through each and every pocket in my bag several times to make sure there are no stray rounds or spent brass, then I’ll shake it out and do it a few more times.
